Brands to the left of us, brands to the right of us… love ’em or hate ’em, or even feel strangely loyal to ’em. What we know is that they elicit strong emotions.
So for Valentine’s Day this year, we’ve asked some of our team to share a brand they genuinely (and not fleetingly) love and why.
First up, Colin Moore:
“A great brand is something you trust, built through positive experiences.” And for Colin, that brand is LEGO. From eagerly unwrapping sets on Christmas morning to visiting the now-departed LEGO department in Jenners, Edinburgh, he loved the sensation of being completely immersed in storytelling, and totally absorbed in play. Castles became battlefields, space pirates took on medieval knights, and a simple set could transform into anything with a bit of imagination.
It was Colin’s first dabbling into creativity and ‘making things’. He wonders how many designers started with a Lego set one Christmas morning? Now, as a dad, he’s rediscovering that magic through his daughter’s eyes. As LEGO says, “Children are our role models” – who knows where their imagination lead them?
