Happy International Women’s Day

The UK has the 3rd biggest creative economy in the world, employing 3M people. In fact, design is its fastest-growing sector – valued at £100Bn. Yet as brand strategist, Rachel Robb, points out, in the creative and design industries just 17% of Creative Directors are women, and according to Prospects, women hold only 37.1% of roles in the sector. While progress has been made, there’s way more to do to embed lasting change and shift attitudes, and so much to be gained from the diversity of perspectives and ideas which creates a healthy balance and richness to our work cultures.

Today, we celebrate the fantastic variety of women who have worked with us – from full time creative, strategic and account team members, contractors, to independent strategy partners, designers, project managers, business developers, artworkers, retouchers, marketing and PR specialists, copywriters, freelancers, animators, programmers – and others.

We are particularly proud that since starting out in 1990, 50% – 90% of our employees have been women. All have contributed in so many ways to our learning and our positive culture, helping to make The Workroom what it is today.
