Gone were the days of ‘reckless short-term investments’ – the focus shifted to creating LASTING benefits for host cities.
With the Paris Olympics now finis, we reflect on this #ThrowbackThursday, on our role in this ‘Olympic legacy revolution’. As tasked by Balfour Beatty WorkPlace (BBW), we developed the name, strapline and brand identity for a completely new and world class social enterprise concept of a Community Interest Company (CIC), that would manage and sustain the QE2 Olympic Park – long after the London games.
Our mission? To help BBW secure the park’s legacy management with a sustainable, community-run model that would ensure a long-term, not-for-profit future for the park.
As Gordon Sheret, former Bid Director at BBW, put it: “Our Parklife needed a vibrant brand to reflect our vision for a lasting community legacy. The Workroom team delivered exactly what we needed – a fresh, creative identity that has endured.”
The result? Our Parklife CIC, founded in 2014, is still thriving! It continues to engage locals through employment, training, and volunteering, reinvesting all surplus funds into its social mission to ensure the 2012 Olympic legacy thrives today and beyond.
