We’re celebrating the life and work of award-winning, internationally renowned British photographer, Martin Parr, whose death was announced this week.
His unmistakable eye – playful, deeply human and razor-sharp in terms of observation – affectionately documented quintessential Britishness in glorious technicolour. It’s no surprise that Martin and Grayson Perry were great friends.
A small and memorable highlight for our team was creating the identity and marcomms for ‘UNSEEN CITY’, a major exhibition held at Guildhall Art Gallery and commissioned by the City of London Corporation. Parr’s near-3yr residency gave him rare access to ceremonies, traditions, robes and processions and many behind-the-scenes unguarded moments across London’s Square Mile, yielding a vivid portrait of ceremony and the people of the City of London.
It was a privilege to be given access to Martin’s brilliant shots and learn about this world, and therefore it’s fitting to post a few of our own Parr-inspired shots captured at the private view!
He inspired and still inspires many young photographers and designers to this day.
