A huge thank you to Creative Boom and Abbey Bamford for writing about Petticoat Lane Market’s first-ever brand creation, led by our team.
Commissioned by the City of London Corporation and London Borough of Tower Hamlets, our goal was to revitalise a market rich in heritage, shaped by generations of makers, traders and communities.
From uncovering the market’s deep textile roots to crafting a bespoke typeface (Petticoat Sans) from locally sourced fabrics, every detail was designed to honour the market’s past while looking toward its future. The strapline – “Your Proper East End Market” – sums it up perfectly: rooted in history, full of character and unmistakably real.
“While Workroom has only been around for 35 years, the market’s been going for 350, so we’re pretty sure it’ll continue for another 350 – evolving on its own terms as a proper, East End market!”
